Kodiak Tent Review | Kodiak Flex-Bow

The Kodiak Flex-Bow is a step up from the Nylon domes the majority of campers select for their outdoor adventures. Kodiak takes a different approach from other manufacturers that are marketing super light backpacking tents to campers who don’t venture more than a few feet from the car. This tent instead focuses on features that could really benefit most campers such as increased durability and comfort.

The Kodiak Flex-Bow

Best Uses:

The Kodiak Flex-Bow tent is designed for the car, canoe or bicycle camping. Its weight makes it unpleasant to carry long distances and thus is not suitable for most backpackers. Car campers will appreciate the high-quality construction that is built to last a lifetime. The high ceilings provide increased comfort over dome tents. The heavy duty steel poles and thick canvas are engineered to protect the occupants when the weather takes a turn for the worse. While your neighbors in flimsy nylon domes retreat to their cars you will stay warm and dry. The tent is rated for four season use allowing you to extend your camping season year round.

At over 6 feet the Kodiak Flex-Bow provides plenty of room to stand in the tent. Campers will not feel claustrophobic in this spacious tent. The thick canvas walls and stout poles provide occupants with a sense of security not offered by typical tents. The four large windows and vents provide plenty of air circulation. The canvas material protects campers even on the coldest nights and the vents can be opened to quickly cool down the tent on hot summer nights.

The high-quality construction is the first thing I noticed when unpacking the Kodiak Flex-Bow tent. Unlike nylon tents that will need to be replaced after a couple of seasons, the Kodiak tent is built to last. Kodiak provides buyers with a lifetime limited warranty to protect the investment. All seams are reinforced and use high-quality materials.

Ease of Setup:

The Kodiak Flex-Bow is designed to be setup by one person in a matter of minutes. Once becoming acquainted with the tent, I found the setup to take about ten minutes and when breaking camp, the tent comes down in five minutes. The storage bag wraps around the tent so campers can forgo the typical camping ritual of stuffing the tent into a seemingly impossibly small bag while swearing up a storm as a band of boy scouts watches.

The Kodiak Flex-Bow is a high-quality tent that will serve campers well for years. The canvas walls are a huge upgrade over flimsy nylon material typically used to construct tents. This tent is an investment in a sturdy shelter that will enrich your camping experience. On our last camping trip, frigid wind gusts flattened our neighbors dome tent while this Kodiak tent kept us warm.
